The KONTAKT sample library version available in .nki format can be used on Native Instruments KONTAKT full version v2.0 or above on Windows and macOS (Free Kontakt Player only will load this Library for 15 minutes in demo mode). Also is compatible with Ableton Sampler (Live Suite only, not Intro or Standard), Steinberg HALion on Windows and macOS as well as in Image-Line DirectWave Player for Windows.

  

ShamiKoto KONTAKT is a virtual Koto (13-stringed) and Shamisen (three-stringed lute) designed to emulate those traditional Japanese stringed instruments. Includes pre-recorded koto glissandos as well as a few shamisen technique emulations with plectrum (bachi) or finger, like hajiki (left hand finger plucked-string), sukui (bachi upstroke), and tataki (bachi swift downward stroke).

The koto (Japanese: 箏) is a traditional Japanese stringed musical instrument derived from the Chinese zheng, and similar to the Mongolian yatga, the Korean gayageum, and the Vietnamese đàn tranh. The koto is the national instrument of Japan. The shamisen or samisen (三味線), also sangen (三絃) — both words mean "three strings" — is a three-stringed traditional Japanese musical instrument derived from the Chinese instrument sanxian. It is played with a plectrum called a bachi.
